Our Teen AIDS Prevention Program was established to reach youth and their families with accurate and appropriate information on HIV/AIDS and how to prevent it. We involve teenagers who design and implement this educational campaign with the goal of making prevention information and our services common knowledge within our island community.
If you are a teen and would like more information on joining this program, call us at 808-331-8177, or email us at hihaf@hihaf.org.

STD and HIV+ Speaker's Bureau
The Hawaii Island HIV/AIDS Foundation is proud to announce the addition of an STD and HIV+ Speaker's Bureau. This bureau consists of trained educators on HIV/STD/Viral Hepatitis prevention and Big Island community members who have agreed to share their own, personal stories of contracting and living with HIV and AIDS.
"Several studies show that some of the most effective education and interventions done around risk reduction for HIV and STD infection is when the educational component is either presented by someone HIV+ or followed up by a message from an HIV+ guest speaker. The impact of the more personal story is highly significant for most who have never related otherwise to the disease."
We have had great success already in addressing students both within the classroom and outside of school in addition to adult groups who may be at risk for contracting/spreading HIV/STD's/Viral Hepatitis.
This service is free to the community. For more information or to book a speaker for your group or classroom, please contact prevention@hihaf.org or call 982-8800.
Prevention for Positives Program
One service HIHAF offers to all people living with HIV and to their partners is the Prevention for Positives (P4P) program. The P4P program includes confidential, one-on-one, client centered counseling geared towards supporting people with HIV in making healthy decisions when it comes to taking risks for becoming infected with or transmitting STD’s. If you’re struggling with issues such as disclosure, safe sex practices, adherence to medications, etc., we can help. This counseling is held in an informal format either at our office or in any setting that feels safe and comfortable for you and the counselor.
This site contains HIV prevention messages that may not be appropriate for all audiences.
